Merry and Bright Star Kit

Embedded image permalink

Click the picture to go to a you tube video.

Make your own 3D stars this season in a variety of sizes and patterns. Use them for ornaments, home décor, place cards, and more. The largest star can take the place of honor on your front door or on your mantel.

You get enough to create a 15" | 38 cm star and 25 smaller stars, 5 each of 5 sizes:
• Printed, die-cut star pieces
• Printed, self-adhesive die-cut side pieces
• Wooden snowflakes
• 7 sheets die-cut tags, banners, greetings, and accents

Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit

We recommend the following to ensure your stars adhere together as they should:
• Use additional adhesive—especially if you live in a region with high humidity.
• Use a Bone Folder to make sharper folds and reduce stress on adhered joints.
• Make sure your hands are clean of anything that might reduce adhesion (lotion, etc.) and avoid touching the areas with adhesive.
• Take extra care to press adhered seams together firmly.

Stop and Give Me Ten

Stop and Give Me Ten

Wednesday, November 12, 2014 by June Hunt

My road manager, Sharon, and I have come up with a simple game when we're traveling for when one of us notices that the other is especially grumpy or negative. We call it the "Stop and Give Me Ten" game, and I assure you that in spite of the title, it has nothing to do with push-ups. (If I attempted ten push-ups in a row in my current out-of-shape state, I might break my nose when collapsing to the floor.) The "ten" in the title refers to all the fingers on two hands worth of things we're grateful for.

For instance, recently after a long day of delayed flights we got to our destination airport only to discover that the car rental company had given away the SUV Sharon had confirmed with a credit card and only had compact cars left. So after breaking two nails trying to cram all of our luggage and several heavy cases of books into the petitemobile, I climbed into the passenger's seat with a huff. Then I began to complain about all the inconveniences—the delays, disgusting airport food, tiny seats, etc.—that we'd had to endure in the span of eight hours.

After listening to my whiney chorus for a while, she turned to face me and commanded in her best impression of a Master Army Sergeant: "STOP AND GIVE ME TEN!" So I stopped, partly because she was driving in Dallas traffic and I was afraid she was going to rear-end the car in front of us, and partly because I'd been on a really good griping roll! But then I submitted, held my hands up, and raised all ten fingers in quick succession:

  • I'm thankful our flights were only delayed and not canceled.
  • I'm thankful we're in a car instead of on foot.
  • I'm thankful I make enough money on the road to pay my mortgage.
  • I'm thankful I get to see women launch themselves into the arms of Jesus for the first time almost every weekend.
  • I'm thankful I got to make it home in time to be with Dad one last time before he passed away.
  • I'm thankful he and mom forgave each other and developed such a sweet friendship before he died.
  • I'm thankful I have family and friends who've experienced my long list of shortcomings and yet still love me.
  • I'm thankful God is so strong when I'm being such a weenie baby.
  • I'm thankful He's slow to anger and rich in compassion.
  • I'm thankful we're staying at a decent hotel tonight.

And it's amazing how just thirty-six seconds of practicing gratitude totally changed my mood. I went from Eeyore to Tigger in less than a minute.

I know it's a much more difficult thing to practice gratitude when your husband walks away, your baby dies, your cancer returns, or your company is downsized and you find yourself out of a job. But I promise it still works. Granted, it's more of a stretch, but extending past the pain of life to reach for the joy God promises is so very, very worth it.

Get Your Fat Pants On...It is time for Turkey!

Now, my card has nothing to do with my header but I thought you might like it! I am so thankful for this Thanksgiving. Even though we are not close to our families we have so many blessings to be thankful for. God is so good and He has not left us without his blessings! Plus, I am finished with my Christmas shopping!

Time Flies When You Are Having Fun...

\
Back to New York. When our youngest child was in the 10th grade her band was invited to play at the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade. Needless to say, we chaperoned. As we went all through New York City the city was not lit until on Thanksgiving Day. The windows are decorated but not displayed. They do not skip out on this important holiday. Thanksgiving I think gets the shaft! As soon as Halloween is over, maybe before, people are decorating for Christmas. Well, my blog waits! Plenty of time for Christmas. I might be working on it, but I am not posting it unitl after Thanksgiving. The reason I am working on it is because I do not believe the holidays are supposed to be about being crazy and getting cranky. Relax and enjoy. Remember the reason for the season and be blessed so that you may share His blessings with others!

CCMC330 - Color Challenge

I played along on Sunday but almost forgot to post my card! It sure would not be the first time. I have been so busy getting ready for the holidays that I have not been up in my craft room for a few days. So, I am running up here tonight to do my post for the CCMC this week. Thanks for looking!

It's Almost Here...Thanksgiving!

Where are you this year? Have you moved on to Christmas yet? I remember how surprised I was when I heard people shouting Happy Thanksgiving in New York. I will tell you more about this tomorrow.

Another Candy Treat

I am the only nurse for 8 schools in El Reno, Oklahoma. I travel to all my schools each week and check on everyone and see all my special friends. I could never keep up without the help and support of all the school secretaries. If you work in a school/office...you  know what I am talking about. The secretaries have their fingers on the pulse of the school and they keep up with all the kids names and the teachers and principals! Whew! I don't know if I could do it. So, I am trying to give them a little treat for all the major holidays. This is perfect for them and faster than the tubes!

Seasonally Scattered

As of now we have not decided what we will be doing for Thanksgiving other than NOT travelling home to Georgia. Not enough time off to make the trip and way too expensive to fly! Sorry guys if this is news to you. We are seeing all of our children on December 8th for a holiday cruise! Yea!
However, I am still making lots of fall and Thanks cards. This was an easy one using the beautiful Seasonally Scattered stamp set from the mini. I love the colors Hello Honey with Blackberry Bliss. So fun and pretty.

Four Feathers in White

You may have seen this on the Stampin' Up! blog and I saw it too. I love the way theirs was so I decided to do something similar myself. I made only a couple of minor changes. How can you improve on perfection?

Grateful for You candy

So, I found these wonderfully fall colored candies with m's on them and had to make a post or 2 using them before I ate all of them! I just love my chocolate candy. The first is the little tube of candies.

It is actually a lot longer but I couldn't get a good photo of the whole thing so I laid it down and this is what I got.

Grateful for You

Grateful for You-2

Are you uber busy at Christmas? Maybe you love to be in contact with your family and friends and don't want to wait til Christmas or have your card be lost in all the craziness of the season. If that is you, why not send out a Thanksgiving card. On the inside you can add a holiday sentiment as well.

Banner Cut Tips

Banner Cut Tutorial

Banner Cut Tutorial
Banners are a hot trend in paper crafting. They are popular accents and layers on décor, cards, scrapbook pages, and more! Cutting the flag ends of banners so they are even can be a real hassle. But, we’ll save you frustration and share a super trick that will give you quick and even banners with just 3 snips of your scissors!
Banner Cut Tutorial by Class in a Flash
  1. Start by cutting a slit into the center of the narrow end of a card stock or Designer Series Paper strip. You can “eyeball” the center or measure it.Depending on the size of your strip and the angle of the flag end you want, you’ll cut the slit to different lengths.  A 1/2″ slit was cut into this sample 1-1/2” x 3” piece of card stock.
  2. Cut from one corner of the strip in to the top of the slit. A triangle of card stock is removed.Cut from the other corner of the strip to the top of the slit.
  3. You now have a quick and even banner! Make the flag end of the banner deeper or shallower by cutting the first center slit deeper or shorter.

1 Card, 2 Challenges

I found this blog site and decided to play along. I like the sketch and I am making a simple card for it. I don't think I have played with this group before so here goes... Click on the pic above to see what overs and the creators have done with this sketch.

Another For All Things Card

Well, I don't know about you but I can hardly believe that Thanksgiving is almost here. Only a couple of weeks left to make and send these great fall cards. I have the desire to keep making more and more but at the same time I want to start on my holiday cards and crafts. I am really trying to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. I am not even playing my holiday music yet!

PPA227 - A Color Challenge

11-13

It is another color challenge this time and I used these great fall colors using the For All Things stamp set and made 3 4-1/4" square cards. I added a touch of Early Expresso on one of the cards. These make great fall cards and these cards will be so nice for Thanksgiving for friends and family back east.

Thrifty Give Thanks Card

Being the thrifty one in the family I am the same when it comes to my card stock. I wanted to  make a card like this one using one of the layers for the focal point so I cut it out of the card stock first. Now, I was not planning this shape but it came to me after I cut. Otherwise, I could have cut it directly from the card and saved a step!

Isn't this Color Me Autumn DSP lovely!

CCMC328 - Color Challenge

CCMC328

Another color challenge this week and this one definitely screams Christmas with these colors. I was stumped for a while. I really did not know what to do with these colors. Then I decided to play with blue snowflakes and this is what I got. This is a 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" card.

Four Feathers Again

I am really stuck on these Four Feathers. They are so pretty in any color! I made another quick fall card with them again. I used scraps for the Vanilla and used this one with the center as the focal point. I bordered it with the Honey Hello and all on Blackberry Bliss. Thanks for looking!

Four Feathers Meets the Pals Paper Arts

PPA226 Nov 6

A color challenge and very fall colors. I am loving these colors and these feathers. I just spent a couple of nights camping in some of the Oklahoma Indian territory and I was inspired to use these feathers after a little exploring today. These colors are perfect for this stamp set.
