Ala Card Idea

Sometimes the hardest part of making a card is thinking up different templates. Well, with Stampin' Up! and my blog that will no longer be a challenge. I will give you the template and a sample card using that template. You can copy it or substitute your own ideas/colors etc.. to make it your own. Being a demonstrator with Stampin' Up! has lots of perks. Contact me if you want more information about becoming a demonstrator.

Card from a Friend

One of the really great things about making cards is making new friends! I love meeting people and sharing my passion with them. Today I am sharing a card that I got from a friend and fellow stamper, Nadine. She moved here from the north and kind of adopted me for ideas and inspiration. She comes to many of my events and we share ideas. This is the card she just sent me. I love the colors and simplicity. So easy to duplicate!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

I found this challenge on Sherrill's blog...to make a card from recycled stuff and so I cut a side off of one of my Stampin' Up! boxes, did a little ripping and tearing. Then I stamped a background using Old Olive ink and my Bella Toile stamp. I stamped the sentiment from the Define Your Life stamp set using Rich Razzleberry ink. I also used the new Extra Large Flower Fancy punch and punched 6 flowers from the filler paper from the shipping box. I inked it with Rich Razzleberry, wrinkled and crinkled it, added some leaves cut from scraps from the Welcome Neighbor DSP that was available during Sale-a-Bration and added a rhinestone brad to hold it all together. Of course, the ribbon is the Rich Razzleberry polka-dot grosgrain ribbon. I distressed it a little and Voila...a recycled card that I would be proud to send to anyone!

Almost an Entry

I wanted to try my hand again at the Artisan Award that Stampin' Up! does each year but alas, time got away from me and I only accomplished one item! This is my Spa Day Bag that I made for the entry. Of course, I used all Stampin' Up! supplies but there are just too many for me to name here! If you want more details, email me and I will send them to you.

A Sketch Challenge

I found a link today to Cardsraps and she was offering a Sketch Challenge. I am always wanting to do more of these and so I did a card for her challenge today. I used 2 stamp sets for this challenge. The 1st set is Friends 24/7 and the 2nd is a sneak peek from the summer mini...called Elements of Style. I made my card look very vintage using some to the retiring colors and other standbys. The card stock colors Iused were: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Ruby Red and Sahara Sand. The inks I used were Ruby Red, Cameo Coral and Handsome Hunter (all retiring in July). I added the Soft Suede ribbon and spritzed the hummingbird with the new Vanilla Shimmer from the upcoming mini.

Praying for You card

I saw this template online last week and knew I wanted to make something similar. I Used Ballet Blue, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, and Old Olive inks. I also used Whisper White, Old Olive and Soft Suede card stock. The embellishments include: Bashful Blue striped ribbon, Scallop Trim Border punch (from SAB and to be in the new catalog), and varied crystal brads. I love how it turned out.

Table Favors

I made this little table favor for everyone who played Bunco with me. It was quick and easy. I used the Game Night set to stamp them. The colors were Going Gray, Real Red and Whisper White. I stamped with Basic Black and Real Red. I added the grosgrain ribbon to the top with a little knot. They hold the little Ghirardelli chocolates perfectly. Of course, you have to have chocolate to stamp and play!

Bunco

This is a picture of the water bottles I did up for the guests. You can make these yourself. They are very simple. Cut your card stock 2 x 7 3/4. Score at the 2" mark on both ends. Stamp and embellish as desired. These are kind of small so they will not hold big packets, but they hold the little Crystal Lite or Propel perfectly.

Bunco Fun

We played Stampin' Bunco at my home on Thursday. It was a blast. The sad thing was that our scores were really bad! The BIG winner for games only won 5 rounds! The Bunco champs only had 2! However, we had fun and everyone went home with some nice prizes. I am showing parts of our Bunco stuff for the next few days. Today is the fruit tray I made for the event and the chocolate bag we stamped.

Spring Flowers

Shelli, the co-founder of Stampin' Up! does a contest on her blog every 6-8 weeks. I have entered once and I like to try but, I was searching and found an amazing project done by Mary Jo Albright, a "3-peat" winner of the prestigious Artisan Award from Stampin' Up! She made these flowers by punching and cutting card stock! Wow, it must have taken hours and hours to do. Enjoy! BTW, she did win this contest. Congrats to you Jo!

Color Renovation

Stampin' Up! has just announced a new Color Renovation. We knew it was just a matter of time. I am excited to say that they are bringing back a few of our old favorites from the In Colors. I know Riding Hood Red and Wild Wasabi will be back plus 5 or 6 new colors. Also, the colors will be shifted to new families; Brights, Neutrals, Regals, and Subtles. What exactly does this mean?
It means that some of your favorite colors may soon be gone.

These are the retiring colors:
Brilliant Blue, Lovely Lilac, Orchid Opulence, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Only Orange, Yo Yo Yellow, Gable Green, Glorious Green, Lavender Lace, Almost Amethyst, Sage Shadow, Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue, Ballet Blue, Handsome Hunter, Summer Sun, Really Rust, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Creamy Caramel, and Close to Cocoa, Going Gray, & Basic Brown. Whew, that is a mouthful!

If you know you will be wanting these colors in the future for a wedding, event ect... Be sure to order them before they disappear!

Now for the new/returning colors. They are: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, River Rock, Early Expresso, Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft), Cajun Craze, Riding Hood Red, Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, and Wild Wasabi.

Emerging Color Technique

I used a fun technique for this card. It is called Emerging Color. I taught this class in my Technique Time class. I will be happy to teach you if you drop me a note. I used the Flight of the Butterfly set to make this card. It also features the In Colors and a vellum punched butterfly. The sentiment is from the set Garden Whimsy.

The Jelly Bean Prayer

I made these up for my Sunday School class this week. It has 8 colors of jelly beans and this prayer.

Red is for the blood he gave, Green is for the grass He made,
Yellow if for the sun so bright, Orange is for the edge of night.
Black is for the sins that we made, White is for the grace He gave,
Purple is for the hour of sorrow, Pink is for the new tomorrow.
A bag full of jelly beans, colorful and sweet,
Is a Prayer...is a Promise...Is an Easter treat!

Easter Carrot

I have been playing with this idea for a while and finally got around to making and posting it. I actually made it a couple of weeks ago but waited for Easter to post it. I used a box pattern that I found for an icicle at the $ store. I cut off the part that closed it and crimped in the top instead. I added a little green tissue and a bow with a hanging sentiment. I think it is cute and will look good in those special baskets. Don't forget to fill with candy!

By the way, I am posting way ahead of time since I am going to be out of town for the week. Please enjoy the posts from Stampin' Up! that I am using on some of the coming days. These are some that you can usually only see if you are a demonstrator and some are done from Stampin' Up! and some are from fellow demonstrators.

A Mother's Day card

Is it too early to begin thinking of Mother's Day? I don't think so. I have been wanting to used the Well Scripted set from the Occasions mini so I decided to make this card. In fact, I made 2 of them so if I don't lose them (LOL) I will have them for the upcoming holiday. I used So Saffron, Almost Amethyst, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and the great Sweet Pea DSP papers. For a busy card this was surprisingly easy to make. Enjoy!
